St. Francis was among seven parishes that came together to form PARJ in 2021, as a voice of lay activism and support for the actions outlined in Bishop Soto’s 2021 pastoral letter Right and Just: Journeying from Racism to Communion in Christ. The Bishop’s letter acknowledges that the sin of racism persists in the Church, just as it remains a force in the broader society, and that Catholics have a responsibility to learn about it and to act in ways that welcome and reverence all as members of the one Body of Christ.
In his talk Mr. Grigsby will reflect on the opportunities emerging at the conclusion of the Church synod in Rome under the theme, “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation and Mission.” The event on November 2, recognizing Black Catholic History Month, will be held in the Ministries Room at St. Ignatius Loyola Parish, 3235 Arden Way, at 3:00 p.m. Following refreshments, the event will conclude with mass in the church.
